Plymouth County HT Task Force Law Enforcement Human Trafficking Training
UNDERSTANDING HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN PLYMOUTH COUNTY WITH VICTIM-CENTERED AND TRAUMA-INFORMED PRACTICES AND INVESTIGATIVE STRATEGIES.

During this training you will learn how to:
•Understand the scope and legal definition of human trafficking
•Identify who victims of human trafficking are
•Recognize what it means to be trauma-informed and why this approach is important to adopt
•Develop victim-centered and trauma-informed approach for investigations
•Identify investigative techniques and strategies for human trafficking cases
The DA’s Office can reimburse overtime costs for you to attend this training. Please submit the Overtime Request Form to PlymouthDA.HumanTrafficking@mass.govopens in a new window for prior approval.

Full day at DARE Camp today. Epic water balloon toss, world record handwalker Mark Kenny performed, District Attorney Tim Cruz and our police chiefs took over grill duty for lunch!

Olympic Games Paris 2024 may officially open Friday but our DARE campers have been competing all week at Whitman-Hanson High School. #goforthegold

Day 1: The Plymouth County Drug & Alcohol Resistance Education Summer Program 2024 (DARE Camp)
Day 1 at DARE Camp is in the books!
Kicked off our 27th year of the Plymouth County Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education Summer Camp today at Whitman-Hanson High School.
Thanks to all of our school resource officers and teen peer leaders who make this a fun and memorable week for all the campers.
A little rain didn’t dampen spirits or their grip when campers took to the turf for the annual tug o’ war competition today.
Thanks to the crew from Boston Medflight for sharing with us your daily missions to save lives.
We rounded out the day with some intense kickball games and snowcones.

Second Annual First Responder Appreciation Night at the Wareham Gateman- July 20, 2024
District Attorney Tim Cruz is proud to help sponsor the Second Annual First Responder Appreciation Night at the Wareham Gateman Game.DA Cruz was joined by members of the Wareham Police Department, Wareham and Onset Fire Departments, Wareham EMS, the Marion Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing and a couple of our Plymouth County Comfort Dogs: Lexi from Wareham and Norman from Marion.
Family activities included a Touch-A-Truck event, and giveaways.
The night ended with a successful 10-5 Gatmen win over the Bourne Braves.

52nd Anniversary of the Meals on Wheels Program
We joined Old Colony Elder Services today to serve a delicious Caribbean meal to residents of the Campello Building in Brockton.
We broke bread to celebrate the historic day in March of 1972 when the Meals on Wheels program for seniors was added to the Older Americans Act.

Coffee with K9 Ziva and her handler Officer Derek Harrington this morning at the Hanson Council on Aging.
Our thanks to Hanson Police Chief Michael Miksch for joining our Comfort Dog Program.
Ziva was a huge hit with the seniors!

Rochester TRIAD’s St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon 2024
Still celebrating ☘️ at the Rochester Council on Aging St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon today.
Thank you to the COA Volunteers who went above and beyond in preparation of today’s gathering.
I was honored to present a Community Reinvestment mini-award to Rochester COA on their newest initiative.
Our office is proud to support COA Director Eric Poulin and their new “Cruise and Lunch” program, that will transport seniors who do not normally leave their homes out and around in town.

Cyber Sense Presentation to Hanson Parents- March 2024
Plymouth County Comfort Dog Ziva helped School Resource Officer Harrington welcome our office to Hanson Middle School for a CyberSense presentation for parents and caregivers tonight.
District Attorney Cruz spoke to the parents on the importance of staying vigilant in regards to their children’s online activities.
Assistant District Attorney Amanda Fowle presented our Cyber Sense program to help identify the dangers and pitfalls of social media so parents can be better aware and prepared.

Stopped in to the West Bridgewater TRIAD Luncheon today to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I had the opportunity to congratulate Tim Nixon on becoming the new Chief of Police.
Chief Nixon plays a very active role with the town’s seniors.

Plymouth Superior Court celebrates Black History Month- February 23, 2024
To mark Black History Month, today we welcomed U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley back to the Brockton Courthouse she previously presided over.
Judge Kelley spoke thoughtfully about how far we have come in the last 50 years.

“Puppy Love”- A Discussion on Healthy Relationships with Teens
We held our first “Puppy Love” event at Ventress Memorial Library in Marshfield today with our Plymouth County Comfort Dogs.
Our DV Coordinator Collette Puleo and Det. Sgt. Bobby McEvoy from Bridgewater State University led a discussion on healthy relationships and friendships with teens.

Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Marvel shared our Cyber Sense internet safety presentation with Hanover Middle School students this morning.
Principal Dan Birolini assisted by comfort dog Lainey and handler Officer McKeever, welcomed our office and students.

Proud to participate in the Marion Occupation Program’s 2024 Career Fair.
It was a great afternoon meeting 5th and 6th graders at Sippican Elementary School.
We discussed our roles as prosecutors and the students were able to meet and greet one of our Plymouth County Comfort Dogs, Aggie and her handler Plympton Police Officer Cam Broderick.

Ribbon Cutting- BSU Cyber Range
Honored to be part of the Ribbon Cutting in celebration of the grand opening of the Bridgewater State University cyber range.
This state-of-the-art virtual environment will be instrumental for BSU students and specialists to practice and sharpen their cybersecurity skills.

A few of our Plymouth County Comfort Dogs dropped by the men’s coffee hour at the Halifax Council on Aging this morning.
Morgan from East Bridgewater, Mikey from BSU, Aggie from Plympton and Teddy from Norwell kept the meeting lively!

Insurance Fraud Bureau presents the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office with a $50,000 grant
Extremely proud to announce that the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office received an annual grant of $50,000 today from Insurance Fraud Bureau of MA and Commissioner DiPaolo.
For the past 21 years, IFB has been partnering with our office to fight auto insurance fraud here in Plymouth County.
All of us pay when someone scams the system, and these fraud fighting efforts drive down costs to law abiding ratepayers statewide.

Honored to participate in a Human Trafficking Awareness panel at Massasoit Community College.
These students are the future service providers responding to HT here.The biggest takeaway was, in Plymouth County we work together to provide the best possible response for survivors and we hold traffickers accountable. -

DEC Initiative Training for Marshfield educators- January 2024
Early release day = valuable training for school faculty. Our office joined the Trauma & Learning Policy Initiative to host drug endangered children and childhood trauma training so that Marshfield educators can spot the signs and assist in helping students thrive.

In 2024 our collaboration continues to work to get people using substances in our county help and services.

Wareham TRIAD- Coffee with the DA and the Comfort Dogs Roxy and Starr- January 2024
Halifax Police Comfort Dog Roxy and Comfort Dog Starr from the Sheriff’s Department pawsed to strut their stuff for seniors at Wareham Council on Aging today at our monthly Wareham TRIAD meeting.
Today’s TRIAD theme was Coffee with the DA and Comfort Dogs.
Those in attendance were treated to a 2024 Plymouth County Comfort Dogs Calendar. Roxy is July’s featured dog and Starr is November’s.

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day 2024
This National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day we are thankful for our Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, and for all the local police departments in Plymouth County.
Every day we are grateful to the men and women who choose to put a uniform on and risk their lives to protect ours.

East Bridgewater TRIAD- Coffee with the DA and Comfort Dog Morgan- January 2024
East Bridgewater Police Department’s Community Resource Dog Morgan brightened the day for seniors attending today’s East Bridgewater TRIAD meeting.
Our thanks to East Bridgewater Police Officer Tallitha Connor for making Morgan a dedicated member of our Plymouth County Comfort Dog Program.
Those in attendance received Morgan’s trading card, as well as a Plymouth County Comfort Dogs Calendar.
