A meeting of the Plymouth County Drug Endangered Children’s Alliance to discuss our work with the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and Old Colony YMCA to offer free memberships to elders.
We recognize the responsibility they have selflessly taken on and want to connect them with resources.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day- 2022
Our office is proud to support the work of Old Colony Elder Services.
Whether you’re in need of help, or interested in helping others, OCES is there for the people of Plymouth County.
I’m proud to sponsor World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2022 with funds to put towards marches in both Brockton and Plymouth, and for the purchase of Elder Abuse Awareness lawn signs which will be dispersed and displayed all across Plymouth County.

Annual Open House- Children’s Advocacy Center 2022
Each year we open the doors to our Children’s Advocacy Center and welcome our community partners, providers, law enforcement and legislators.
It takes all of us working together for our CAC to offer this comprehensive approach to serving child victims and their families.
This year, 24 Hour Power Inc.’s founder Susie Lordi, worked with SABURA students to create a canvas entitled “Be the Change”.
The painting was unveiled at our Children’s Advocacy Center’s Open house. The painting will be a traveling piece of art which will be displayed in various places throughout Plymouth County to inspire others to “Be the Change”.

Wareham Council on Aging Sock Hop Dance
Kickin’ it back to the 50’s tonight at a sock hop dance to benefit Wareham Council on Aging.
We beat feet for a fun night and a great cause!

The Launch of the Wareham TRIAD
Kicked off our TRIAD initiative today when the town of Wareham became our 11th active group in Plymouth County.

Marking National Vietnam War Veterans Day in Brockton.
Remembering all those who served in Vietnam, their families, and those that we lost.
Grateful to all the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who chose to raise their right hands and committed to defend for our freedom.

Childhood Trauma Initiative-Handle with Care meeting with Lt. Governor Karyn Polito and First Lady Laura Baker
In 2002 we began our childhood trauma initiative.Over the years, we have expanded the scope of our programming to include those with Adverse Childhood Experiences and drug endangered children.
Rebranded as Handle with Care, we are working on expanding this program statewide.
Today, District Attorney Joe Early and I briefed Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, and First Lady Laura Baker on our groundbreaking work in this area.
This meeting brought us one step closer to creating our state-wide DEC Alliance.

The History of the Brockton Liberty Tree
Many thanks to Mr. Willie Wilson for sharing his wealth of historical knowledge of Brockton’s Liberty Tree with our staffers today.
This trees marked an important stop on the Underground Railroad and we are proud to have it on display in our office’s foyer for all to experience.

Furry fun canine cake celebration today for comfort dog Opry, who turned 1! She stopped by our Children’s Advocacy Center today with her handler Hingham Police SRO Tom Ford.
We look forward to using Opry’s services at our CAC to comfort child victims. Happy birthday Opry!🎂🐾

West Bridgewater TRIAD Monthly Meeting- March 2022
Spoke to a roomful of seniors at the monthly TRIAD meeting hosted by the West Bridgewater Council on Aging.
TRIAD members were presented with important information to enable them to arm themselves with tips and tricks to outwit scammers and protect themselves from financial fraud.
Working together to make a difference and keep our Plymouth County seniors safe!

Veteran Service Officer Training- March 2022
Plymouth County Sheriff Joe McDonald hosted a veteran service officer training to collaborate resources and ensure that our nation’s heroes get the services that they need and deserve. Veteran service officers from around Plymouth County attended this training and heard from District Attorney Tim Cruz, and Mayor Robert Sullivan.
We are honored to be part of this important training.

Our ultimate goal is to identify children who are being impacted by substance use in their homes and connect those families to services.

Important news to share with Brockton City Council tonight. Violent crime is down, incarceration rates are lowest in the US, and to date, we have secured $22.9 Million in grant money for our County to invest in community. We look forward to continuing to collaborate and move this city forward.

The Commutation Hearing for William Allen
What may have been considered a just outcome decades ago may warrant reconsideration with the passage of time. This is one of those times.
Today, February 2, 2022, I went before the Governor’s Council to testify in support of commuting the sentence of William Allen to life with the possibility of parole.

The Raising of the African American Flag at Brockton City Hall
Today, February 1, 2022, I was honored to join Mayor Sullivan and the newly formed African American Association of Brockton in hoisting the African American flag at City Hall.
This flag raising honors Black History Month, and reminds us all of the struggles and triumphs of African Americans throughout our history.
I was proud to bring the Liberty Tree display that was donated to our office to the ceremony to share its history.

United Way of Greater Plymouth County Legislative Breakfast
Great morning sharing the great news at the United Way of Greater Plymouth County’s Legislative Breakfast that we earned a $1.18 million dollar federal grant to continue the work of our Drug Endangered Children Initiative.
We are grateful to our community partners, Dennis Carman and the UWGPC’s Family Center in aiding our efforts.

Executive meeting of our Safe Streets Law Enforcement Subcommittee today. The link between guns, drugs and violence is undeniable. We strive every day to hold accountable those perpetrating violent crime, but also use our resources to support prevention and re-entry efforts.

A District Court ADA training was held at our office today so skills remain sharp and we can continue to serve victims of crime inside the courtroom.

Human Trafficking Awareness Day, 2022
On the panel today for Massasoit’s 4th annual Human Trafficking Awareness Day. This unique event combines students, community members and service providers together to share their expertise and life experience on the Human Trafficking issue. We continue to work to keep Plymouth County Safe.

Norfolk Sheriff’s Department Youth Substance Use & Mental Health Task Force
Members of our Plymouth County Drug Abuse Task Force were invited to present to the Norfolk Sheriff Department’s Youth Substance Use & Mental Health Task Force.
Topics of discussion included the progress we have made here in Plymouth County with our Childhood Trauma Initiative. We talked about our Drug Endangered Children’s Initiative and the importance of our Handle with Care Program. Looking forward to partnering with Norfolk County on our State DEC Alliance.

Black History Month Celebration
Community reinvestment funds were presented to the African American Association of Brockton’s organizer Jamie Hodges.
The African American Association of Brockton are sponsoring a few events during the month of February, that we are proud to support.
On February 1, 2022, the African American flag will be raised at City Hall Plaza.
On February 26, 2022 the African American Association will be hosting a Black History Month Celebration from 12-4 at the Brockton Community Access (BCA) 1 North Main Street, Brockton, MA.

Our Senior Safety zoom series rolls on with PACtv Media and the Plymouth Center for Active Living.
Romance Scams was the topic for this episode.
Special thanks to host Michelle Bratti, the Director of Plymouth CAL, and guests Rose Litchman and Dave Warden for helping us get the message across and alert other on how to spot the scams.

District Court Staff Training
In 2021, our Children’s Advocacy Center received 1009 referrals an served 724 children.
Today, we trained our entire District Court staff and shared our team approach to the care and treatment of children who may have been sexually abused.

It has been 4 years since the 1st meeting of our Safe Streets Task Force.
When law enforcement and community work together, great things happen.
In 2022 our office will continue to partner with local, state, federal law enforcement AND residents, to address public safety concerns in Brockton.

DEC Alliance Meeting- January 2022
Sharing great news with our Plymouth County Drug Endangered Children’s Alliance group today.
We have secured a $1.18 million grant to bolster our efforts in enhancing the capacity of the county to respond to the trauma and ACEs that children are witnessing.

Senior Safety with Duxbury COA and PAC tv
Millions of Americans fall victim to financial fraud or confidence schemes targeting the elderly.
We are working to prevent that.
Thanks to director Joanne Moore, Candy Weiler, Marie Keefe from the Duxbury Senior, and PAC tv media for helping us to protect people’s identities and wallets from thieves.

Human Trafficking Law Enforcement Subcommittee meeting- January
Meeting of our Plymouth County Human Trafficking Law Enforcement Subcommittee today.
In 2021 our Child Advocacy Center provided support for 85 cases of child trafficking and we took three HT cases to trial.
We have made great strides but the work and collaboration continues.

January is officially Human Trafficking Awareness Month but every day our HT task force is working to combat the issue — to get victims the desperate help and services that they need while also investigating and prosecuting those who traffick human beings.
