L Street Mission Attire for Hire- December 2023
In the spirit of the season, our office collected men’s and women’s suits to donate to L Street Mission to the Homeless in Brockton.
L Street’s mission is to work with people to overcome addiction and restore their lives.
These gently worn items will serve someone deserving well.

Annual Senior Public Safety Luncheon Series- Raffael’s, HIngham, MA
Beautiful afternoon for our Public Safety Luncheon at Raffael’s at South Shore Country Club.

Talking grant opportunities, Xylazine, and link between mental health and substance use at today’s Plymouth County Drug Abuse Task Force meeting.
Our county is so fortunate that our city, state and federal partners join us at the table in the battle to push back against substance abuse.
We were honored to have Worcester District Attorney Joe Early and Worcester Sheriff Lew Evangelidis join us today. It was great to share best practices and learn about what our Worcester County counterparts are doing.

Plympton Night Out 2023 and raising of the historic Mount Rushmore Flag
A beautiful night for the 2023 Plympton Night Out, Thank you to Chief Matt Ahl and the Plympton Police and Fire Departments for organizing this important community event.The historic Mount Rushmore flag was raised to open Plympton Night Out festivities.“The Mount Rushmore Flag has been on a 2 million mile, 35-year journey, crossing 3 continents. The flag has officially represented the US in over 30 countries.Commissioned by the U.S. Department of Interior National Park Service in 1986, the flag was sewn together and dedicated at the Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston before being stored for a time aboard the USS Constitution.In 1994, this flag became the 1st American flag carried under the English Channel.Although this flag was unfolded on the Plympton town green in 2018, it has never been flown in town. This flag raising may be the last time the flag is raised in Plymouth County as the flag is scheduled to be retired in early 2024.” Plympton Public Library -
Onset Cape Verdean Festival 2023
It was a great day at the Onset Cape Verdean Festival at the Bandshell in Onset today. Thank you to Tiny Lopes, public relations officer for the Onset Cape Verdean Festival Association, Inc., for his organization and implementation of the festival. It was an enormous success!

Whitman Zip Trip 2023- Boston 25
District Attorney Tim Cruz joined Whitman SRO Kevin Harrington, Hanson SRO Derek Harrington, BSU Detective Bob McAvoy and Deputy Dennis Desroches as they were all interviewed about the Plymouth County Comfort Dog Program by Boston 25’s Lilly Hopkins at the Zip Trip in Whitman.
The Plymouth County comfort dogs Nola (Whitman), Lucy (Hanson), Mikey (BSU) and Starr (PCSD) were ready for their close up!
Congrats to Boston 25 on 20 years of zip tripping and swinging by 02382!

District Attorney Cruz and his staff attended the Love Life Now Foundation Gala.Each February, we pause and rededicate ourselves to putting an end to domestic violence by taking the White Ribbon Campaign Pledge.

Following up on our Romance Scam fraud training.
Today seniors at Rochester Council on Aging watched “Tinder Swindler,” a British true crime documentary about the issue.

Honorable Judge Serge Georges- Black History Month- Superior Court
Inspiring afternoon listening to Honorable Judge Serge Georges share stories of his improbable life journey, growing up in Dorchester, to serving on the SJC.
Today’s Black History Celebration at Brockton Superior Court also allowed for 2 of our ADAs to catch up with their Suffolk University Professor.

Shooting Substance Free 02043 podcast today with host Kristen Arute, president/program director of Hingham CARES.
We discussed parents modeling positive behavior when teaching their children about drugs and alcohol, and the work of our Plymouth County Drug Abuse Task Force.

On February 16, 1918, Lithuania proclaimed their independence from German rule.
Today, the City of Brockton raised the Lithuanian flag to mark this day in history. 🇱🇹

Wareham TRIAD- Educating about Romance Scams
Spoke to the Wareham TRIAD at the Wareham Council on Aging this Valentine’s Day to show seniors how to protect themselves from being romanced by scammers. Our Community Engagement team distributed Valentines for Seniors Resource Cards, with vital phone numbers to help keep our seniors safe.
Special Thanks to COA executive director Sharon Rice, for sharing her father’s romance scam story so that others may learn from it.

CSEC Task Force- January 2023
Since 2017 our office has fielded 550 referrals of child trafficking concerns since our Commercial Sexual Exploitation Children protocols were put in place.
Our task force is back at it in 2023 with its multi-disciplinary team response aimed at meeting all the needs of youth.

Teen Dating Violence Presentation- New Heights Charter School- January 2023
Thanks to Pastor Gilbert for asking our office’s Domestic Violence Unit to present on healthy vs. unhealthy relationships today to 150 11th and graders from New Heights Charter School here in Brockton.

Human Trafficking Awareness Day 2023
To mark Human Trafficking Awareness Day, we used grant funds to stuff 1,000 bags with warm clothing, toiletries and gift cards.
These bags will be dispersed to Plymouth County Police Departments for officers to hand out to female victims who may be vulnerable or at high-risk for HT.
